ACUE Programs

ACUE

Faculty Success is proud to partner with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) to expand high-impact professional development opportunities for our faculty. Through this collaboration, faculty will have opportunities to:

  • Take part in an asynchronous course, facilitated for a cohort of TXST faculty, and earn a certificate in ACUE’s Effective Teaching Practice Framework
  • Enroll in Effective Teaching Practices 101, a flexible, self-paced course on evidence-based teaching practices
  • Explore ACUE Commons, a robust library of teaching and learning resources

ACUE’s offerings are grounded in research about what helps students succeed and are designed to be immediately applicable across disciplines and teaching contexts. Their programs emphasize practical strategies that support student engagement, persistence, and achievement. The Office of the Provost is providing all of these opportunities free of charge to Texas State faculty.

Effective Teaching Practice Framework Certification

""

The Effective Teaching Practice Framework Certification course offers a complete set of evidence-based teaching practices that build on existing knowledge and expand instructional skill sets, enhancing faculty confidence and expertise in teaching and engaging students. Faculty who complete the course are well-positioned to boost student persistence and academic achievement.

Upon completion, cohort faculty earn certification in ACUE’s Effective Teaching Practice Framework. Cohort participation also includes access to the ACUE Commons resources.

Participating in the Course

The course contains four smaller courses that, together, take approximately 25 weeks to complete:

  • Creating a Productive Learning Environment
  • Promoting Active Learning
  • Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learners
  • Designing Learner-Centered Courses

Participation in the 2025 – 2026 cohort is open to full-time TXST faculty members who teach primarily in-person courses. Faculty must be nominated by their department chairs/school directors. Up to 30 participants will be accepted into the cohort.

If there are seats available after the nomination window closes, faculty will be able to self-nominate.

Cohort Nominations

Faculty must be nominated by their department chair or school director to participate in the certification course. Faculty Success will work with nominators to accept up to 30 participants into the cohort. Faculty interested in joining the cohort should contact their chair/director to request a nomination. If there are seats available after the nomination window closes, faculty will be able to self-nominate.
